The numbers speak for themselves. The Modi Case campaign finished at a staggering 4,339% funded, raising $216,958 with the support of 2,039+ Builders. In the final hour of the campaign, we crossed the 2,000 backer milestone!
Combined with the original Modi Boxi campaign (7,000+ backers and $400,000+ raised), the Modi ecosystem has now crossed the $600,000 milestone. This community is something truly special, and we don't take that for granted for a single second.

🧱 Where It All Started: The Modi Boxi Story
Before there was Modi Case, there was Modi Boxi, one of the most successful 3D-printable STL Kickstarters ever launched. Modi Boxi gave the tabletop community a fully modular, 3D-printable storage and organization system built around the patented Modi Bolt connector.
Over 3 years of building, listening, and iterating, Modi Boxi was updated 14 times post-campaign in response to direct community feedback. That same commitment to quality and community-driven development is exactly what brought Modi Case to life.
Modi Case is the next evolution of the Modi Builder ecosystem. It opens to give you instant visibility and access to everything inside, and it's designed for storage, transport, and active tabletop gameplay.
We did a bunch of stuff for Modi Case:
- A hinged modular case design — four composite pieces per case; mix and match sizes to build the configuration you need
- 750+ STL files — fully customizable, with no glue, screws, or special hardware required
- A new, stronger V04 Modi Bolt — a new, improved version of the patented connector; stronger, simpler to use, and fully backward compatible with all existing Modi Boxi parts
- The Modi Rack system — an internal rack that holds modular trays, keeping everything organized and accessible
- 3MF build plate files to start faster — open in your slicer and print; no setup required
- A system that scales vertically and horizontally as your collection grows
- Made it work on standard FDM printers — no exotic hardware needed

🗓️ The Campaign Journey
From launch day to the final overtime hour, the Modi Case campaign was a wild ride. Here's how it unfolded:
May 12, 2026 — Launch Day. The Modi Case campaign went live on BackerKit. The community showed up immediately, and within the first week, we had ripped through every original stretch goal we had set. We had to add new ones.
May 19 — One Week In. One week old and already beyond our original goals. We announced two new stretch goals: #06 at $125,000 (Tray Maker Software) and #07 at $150,000 (Large Extra Advanced Builds).
May 26 — Two Weeks In. We hit the $125,000 milestone and launched the Tray Maker Software at traymaker.modiboxi.com, a web-based tool for designing and generating custom trays for paint bottles of any size or mini bases. (Discord membership required to use.)
May 30 — How Does Modi Rack Work?. Jeff dropped a full overview video that explains the Modi Rack assembly system and answers community questions about ease of use.
June 2 — Milestone #7 Unlocked. $150,000 reached! Large Extra Advanced Builds unlocked, combine Large and Medium case components, and mix composite bottoms and tops for ultimate flexibility. We also teased the upcoming fold-down handle stretch goal.
June 9 — One Week Left. With 1,650+ backers and one week to go, we announced that files were planned for June 23rd, confirmed that 3MF build plate files would be included, and shared that step-by-step assembly instructions were in progress (always available at modiboxi.com/instructions).
June 15 — Final 24 Hours. 1,800+ Builders backing the project. We were close to the final stretch goal, the Fold Down Handle ("Beast Handle").
June 16 — Final Stretch Goal Reached (Update #6). $200,000 milestone hit! The Fold Down Handle is now a reality. With 1,900+ backers in the final hours, the community delivered one last incredible push.
June 16 — 2,000 Backers!. In the final hour of the campaign, we crossed the 2,000 backer milestone.
June 16 — Overtime Mode. The campaign entered overtime, staying open as long as pledges kept coming in. Last chance to jump in at the discounted campaign price.
June 17 — We Did It. Official campaign closed. $216,958 raised. 2,039+ Builders. 4,339% funded. The Modi Case is real.
