We are excited to announce that Springem snagged the Community Choice award with the most votes in the September 2024 Modi Boxi Pro Pack Photo Contest!
I was able to catch up with Springem on Discord to talk about the win!
Trapper@Modi Boxi: Ok... what's your secret to winning BOTH Modi Boxi photo contests... IN A ROW?
Springem: I'm not sure how I won a second time, there were a lot of amazing entries! I'm grateful for the community. I was aiming to pack a lot in this build and try out several new components and I think it turned out great!
Trapper@Modi Boxi: Well, it's a fantastic build. Not only is the color scheme compelling (Orange is my fav color!), but your photography is also very well done. What inspired this PRO Pack build?
Springem: My wife bought me a Bambu Lab X1 Carbon as an early Christmas gift and I needed to decide on which one of my board games needed a better storage solution using large boxis.
One of my first Boxi builds early this year was for the board game Cthulhu: Death May Die using multiple medium Boxis for mini storage. I wanted to expand the solution to hold more minis and other game components.
I was able to come up with a solution that could hold all game content without needing to transport additional game boxes. I also know that additional expansions for the game from a Kickstarter project will be on its way soon, so it had to be expandable.
It was the perfect fit for using the Pro Cage pieces, Pro Arms, and Pop Bolts. It made sense to start from scratch and rebuild the solution. I also got to try out multi-color printing for the lid which I hadn't done before.
Trapper@Modi Boxi: Yeah, it's super clear in your builds that you have a real handle on the system. Everything seems to have it's place making for really clean design. Are there any other builds/projects you have coming up using Modi Boxi?
Springem: Mass mini storage for table top wargames and D&D! I am currently in the middle of printing my first Level 5 large Boxi and plan to make it even larger with Boxi extenders.
Trapper@Modi Boxi: That sounds awesome. The Level 5 Boxis are massive. We added a bunch of new things with the Pro Pack, but are there other things you'd like to see us come out with for the system?
Springem: What I would like to see is a collapsible, foldable, or sliding handle that has a lower profile than the basket handle. I have played around with the Pro Cage handle, but I haven't been able to easily get it to slide up and down between two Boxis.
I would also like to see a cross between the Pro Side Car and Boxi Carrier. I like the Boxi Carrier size and that it is fully enclosed, but I would like to mount it vertically against the large Boxi.
Trapper@Modi Boxi: Yeah those are great ideas...especially a way to use the Boxi carrier in different orientations. With the new Pop Bolts not needing to be extracted by the tool from behind, it opens up ways to add holes where we previously couldn't have them, so this becomes more possible.
Congrats again on winning the photo contest and we hope to see more amazing builds in the future!
