Community Showcase - Praxi and the Marvel Champions Build

It is time for another COMMUNITY SHOWCASE! Modi Boxi Co-Founder Trapper Markelz had a chance to interview Modi Boxi Builder Praxi and delve into the creative journey behind the Marvel Champions Build!

Trapper: So, I'm intrigued by your background. Could you share a bit about yourself and how you got started with 3D printing?

Praxi:
I've been a maker/tinkerer/mechanic for quite a while. I actually work in the tech field, but early self-reliance makes me want to fix/build things. My first 3d printer was some RepRap wooden thing that used strings for the belts! I don't think I ever got anything to print out of it. Been tinkering off and on ever since.

Trapper: Wow, so yeah, you must be shocked at how far 3d printing technology has evolved since then! That's a fascinating journey. How did you first come across Modi Boxi, and what was it about the community that caught your attention?

Praxi: I'm a sucker for storage systems. I was building my Omni Box, and in their discord, they had mentioned a collaboration project with Modi Box. My ears perked up. I was really interested in the design principles of no supports, printer size agnostic, etc., and the overall modularization of the Modi Box system. I haven't looked back since.

Trapper: Nice! We love the team over at Omni. Good bunch of guys. Tell me specifically about this Marvel build. Your designs blend functionality with a ton of visual creativity. What inspired your approach? How did you bring that idea to life?

Praxi:
I Kickstart a lot of games. They always come with ~20 odd-sized boxes. It's really hard to lug those around. Modi Box allows me to bring those 20 boxes down to 1 portable system.

Trapper: What are you working on next?

Praxi:
With my Marvel Champions storage complete, I plan on Modi Boxing my Marvel United into XL Boxis.

Trapper: Ok, so I've never used Modi Boxing as a verb before. But that is AWESOME! We can't wait to see what you pull off with the XL pack!

For those just starting with Modi Boxi, what advice or tips would you offer to help navigate the setup?

Praxi:
The documentation and amount of files can be overwhelming! Make sure to do some of the basic builds, like the Dice Roller tower. Then, move up to some of the other pre-builts from there. Don't hesitate to use the Discord community, either. There are so many helpful people there.

Trapper: It's been a pleasure learning more about your build today Praxi. Is there a place where people can see more of your work? Do you have any social media or project pages you'd like to share?

Praxi: I am not a designer nor a social media person; I am more of a hacker. If I see a need, I fill it. I've started to put some of my customizations up on printables, though, so you can check them out at: https://www.printables.com/@mlindsay_1471492

Trapper: Awesome. We can't wait to see what you build next!
