Big News: Modi Bolt Is Now Officially Patented!

We’ve got some seriously exciting news to share: Our Modi Bolt has been awarded U.S. Patent No. US-12398748-B2!

And while patents are usually filled with stiff legal talk and diagrams only an engineer could love, here’s the truth: this one exists because of Jeff Paradiso’s genius tinkering brain. Jeff is the guy who looked at 3D printable bolt solutions and said:

“What if we could make this easier, cooler, and way less annoying to put together?”

Fast-forward through countless sketches, prototypes, late-night 3D prints, and a lot of coffee/bourbon… and here we are.

You can even geek out and read the whole thing if you like: Download Patent US-12398748-B2 (PDF).

What Did We Actually Invent?

At the heart of the patent is what we now call the Modi Bolt:

  • It’s shaped kind of like a bowtie.
  • You slide it in, give it a twist, and it locks in solid.
  • Add the clever “pop-lock” prong, and boom, the bolt won’t move unless you want it to.

No tools. No fiddly screws. No swearing because you dropped a tiny nut under your workbench. Just click-twist-done.

Why This Matters for 3D Printing Builders

We know our community, gamers, makers, and modders. You don’t just want storage; you want storage that works the way you build: fast, modular, and flexible.

This patent protects the core of Modi Boxi’s design and guarantees that what we’re building together stays unique, practical, and fun to use.

What’s Next

With this patent in place, we’re free to keep expanding the Modi ecosystem:

  • More box shapes
  • More clever connectors
  • More ways to customize your builds

And we can’t wait to see what YOU, our builder community, dream up with it.

Thanks for being part of this journey. Modi Boxi is officially patented, Jeff’s brain is officially legendary, and we'll keep cooking up cool stuff!
